Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Sixt in Pakistan: What’s There (2026)
Which international car rental brands operate in Pakistan, where their counters are listed, typical prices, and renting a self-drive car from a local owner.
Updated 17 October 2026 · By the HireACar team
If you are used to picking up a Hertz or Avis car at the airport, Pakistan works differently. A few international brands have counters, mostly at the Islamabad and Lahore airports, run by local partners. Most people instead rent from a local rent-a-car office or, increasingly, straight from a car's owner. Here is what the big brands show today, and the alternatives.
What booking sites list (checked 17 October 2026)
| Airport | International brands listed | Small car, average |
|---|---|---|
| Islamabad International (ISB) | Avis (2 locations), Sixt (2), Hertz (1) | about $115 a day |
| Allama Iqbal International, Lahore (LHE) | Europcar (2), keddy by Europcar (2), Sixt (1), Avis (1) | about $53 a day |
Source: Kayak airport pages, 17 October 2026. Kayak also lists local firms at both airports. These are booking-site listings, not confirmed counters: before you fly, check the brand's own website for the address, opening hours, whether the car is self-drive or comes with a driver, the deposit and the licence they accept.
Hertz in Pakistan
Hertz runs in Pakistan through a local licensee. In January 2014 Auto Rental News reported that Hertz had named Optimus Limited, its Pakistan licensee with nine locations in five major cities, as its general sales agent. Today hertz.com has an Islamabad location page, and booking sites list one Hertz counter at Islamabad International Airport. We could not find a current Hertz counter listed in Lahore, Karachi or Multan.
Avis, Europcar and Sixt
Avis and Sixt are listed at Islamabad airport, and Europcar, its budget brand keddy, Sixt and Avis at Lahore airport. As with Hertz, these are franchise or partner operations, so terms can differ from what you know at home. Ask whether a credit card deposit is blocked, which licence and permit they accept, and whether you may drive outside the city.
The local alternative: rent from the owner
On HireACar, local owners list their own cars, and you drive yourself by the day or for a few hours. The price you see includes the fee, the owner confirms each request, and the car's photos and rules are on its page. Self-drive cars today:
| City | Self-drive cars | From / day | Typical / day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lahore | 23 | Rs 3,300 | Rs 8,800 |
| Islamabad | 6 | Rs 5,500 | Rs 6,600 |
| Karachi | 3 | Rs 2,530 | — |

HireACar is a marketplace. The car belongs to the host, and the rental is an agreement between you and the host. HireACar is not responsible for any loss, damage, theft, accident, fine or injury involving the car.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a Hertz in Pakistan?
- Hertz has an Islamabad location page on hertz.com, and booking sites list a Hertz counter at Islamabad International Airport. Hertz has worked through a Pakistani licensee: in 2014 it named Optimus Limited, then running nine locations in five cities. Confirm the current counter and terms with Hertz before you book.
- Which international car rental brands are at Lahore airport?
- On 17 October 2026, Kayak listed Europcar, keddy by Europcar, Sixt, Avis and others at Allama Iqbal International Airport. Listings change, so check the brand's own site.
- Are international brands cheaper than local rentals?
- Usually not. Booking sites price airport counters in dollars, roughly $50 to $115 a day for a small car in October 2026. Local owners on HireACar price in rupees, and the tables on this page show today’s rates.
- Can I rent a self-drive car from a local owner instead?
- Yes. Most cars on HireACar are self-drive, by the hour or by the day. Every renter signs up with a verified phone number and gives their CNIC number and a photo of the front of the card. Self-drive also needs a valid Pakistani driving licence. Owners may look at the original card at pickup, but may not keep it or any other original document.
- Is insurance included on HireACar?
- HireACar does not insure trips. Insurance is the car owner’s responsibility, so ask the owner before you book.
